Matthew Dicks

Matthew Dicks is the internationally bestselling author of the novels Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, Something MissingUnexpectedly, Milo, The Perfect Comeback of Caroline Jacobs, Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, and Change Your Life through the Power of Storytelling, and the upcoming Twenty-one Truths About Love, The Other Mother and Cardboard Knight. His novels have been translated into more than 25 languages worldwide. Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend was the 2014 Dolly Gray Award winner and was a finalist for the 2017 Nutmeg Award in Connecticut

He is also the author of the rock opera The Clowns and the musicals Caught in the MiddleSticks & Stones, and Summertime. He has written comic books for Double Take comics. He is the humor columnist for Seasons magazine and a columnist for Slate magazine. He has also published for Reader's Digest, The Hartford Courant, Parents magazineThe Huffington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor.

The Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists awarded him first prize in opinion/humor writing in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. 

When not hunched over a computer screen, Matthew fills his days as an elementary school teacher, a storyteller, a speaking coach, a blogger, a wedding DJ, a minister, a life coach, and a Lord of Sealand. He has been teaching for 21 years and is a former West Hartford Teacher of the Year and a finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year.

Matthew is a 42-time Moth StorySLAM champion and 6-time GrandSLAM champion whose stories have been featured on their nationally syndicated Moth Radio Hour and their weekly podcast. One of his stories has also appeared on PBS’s Stories From the Stage.

He has also told stories for This American Life, TED, The Colin McEnroe Show, The Story Collider, The Liar Show, Literary Death Match, The Mouth, and many others. He has performed in such venues as the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Wilbur Theater, The Academy of Music in North Hampton, CT, The Bynam Theater of Pittsburgh, The Bell House in NYC, The Lebanon Opera House, The Cutler Majestic, Boston University, Yale University, and Infinity Hall in Hartford, CT.

Matthew is also the co-founder and creative director of Speak Up, a Hartford-based storytelling organization that produces shows throughout New England. He teaches storytelling and public speaking to individuals, corporations, universities, religious institutions, and school districts around the world. He has most recently taught at Yale University, The University of Connecticut Law School, Purdue University, The Connecticut Historical Society, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Miss Porter's School, The Berkshire School, and Graded School in Sao Paulo, Brazil.    

Matthew is the creator, producer, and co-host of Speak Up Storytelling, a podcast that teaches people to tell their best stories. Matthew is also the creator and co-host of Boy vs. Girl, a podcast about gender and gender stereotypes.  

Matthew is married to friend and fellow teacher, Elysha, and they have two children, Clara and Charlie. He grew up in the small town of Blackstone, Massachusetts, where he made a name for himself by dying twice before the age of eighteen and becoming the first student in his high school to be suspended for inciting riot upon himself. 

Ilyce Glink, Founder/CEO

 

Ilyce Glink is an award-winning, nationally syndicated columnist, radio talk show host, a communications and media strategist, an innovator in content marketing and the founder of four Chicago-based companies.

She is the author of more than a dozen books, including the best-selling 100 Questions Every First-Time Home Buyer Should Ask, now in its fourth edition, and she has nearly 1 million books in print. She spent 8 years as on-air talent/producer for WGN-TV and nearly 18 years hosting a top-rated Sunday talk show and filling in for syndicated talk show host Clark Howard for WSB-AM, in Atlanta, has hosted two syndicated radio programs, and has appeared on every major network’s morning news programs, Oprah, CNBC, CNN, and Fox Business.

Glink has won numerous awards throughout her career, including Best Consumer Reporter, Best Magazine Report, Best Blog, and Best Television Report from the National Association of Real Estate Editors. She has won several top awards from the Society of Business Editors and Writers (SABEW), including Best in Business Blog and the 2015 President’s Award. She also received the first Money $mart award from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and received two Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism from the Chicago Headline Club. In 2006, she was nominated for an Emmy® Award. She was co-founder of the Medicare Newsgroup, and part of the team that won the 2012 Web Marketing Association’s award for outstanding achievement in web development for MedicareNewsGroup.com.

 

 

Jon Kichen


Jon obtained his real estate license in 1980. He owned and operated Kichen and Associates with his parents, Shirley and Rubin Kichen. They focused primarily on condo conversion sales and residential re-sales. During the 1980s Jon was very active in SAAR and was named Realtor® of the Year in 1984. He served on several SAAR committees including Government Affairs and the Realtors Political Action Committee (RAPAC) throughout the 1980s.  In 1986 Jon moved to Merrill Lynch Realty where he became Sales Manager and continued selling real estate. Merrill Lynch Realty became Prudential Realty and Jon assisted the company in the transition to the well respected national franchise.    

In 1990, Jon joined Coldwell Banker and became Branch Manager of the Camelback Branch. Within 1 year, he took an office that was losing money and turned it into one of the most profitable offices for the Western Region of Coldwell Banker for many years to come. Jon was part of the team that moved Coldwell Banker Success Realty into the forefront of leadership in the real estate community in Phoenix. Jon was with Coldwell Banker Success Realty until the spring of 2002.
 
In June 2002, Jon joined the brokerage team of West USA Realty. While he played an active role in his capacity on the brokerage team, Jon decided to pursue a different role in the real estate business.  Thus, in the fall of 2013, Jon parted ways with West USA Realty. Once it became known throughout the industry that Jon was "available", he was pursued by numerous companies to join their team. Jon continued to focus on Desert Sage Seminars and also accepted the position as Designated Broker for DeLex Realty. This was a new brokerage needing a guiding hand and Jon set up needed systems and helped grow the company. In the summer of 2015, Jon decided to focus solely on education and resigned his position as DB of DeLex Realty. Currently, he remains focused on teaching CE classes and volunteering in the real estate industry.

 

Jon has owned, operated, educated, managed and practiced real estate his entire career. His volunteer time with REALTOR® associations has made him one of a kind...Volunteering through committee levels to the board levels does not only make him a good REALTOR® but an advocate for the entire real estate industry.

 

 Jeffrey “Mr. Tech” Raskin

Graduating from Arizona State University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Jeffrey has been actively practicing in the real estate industry since 2000; buying, selling and investing in residential real estate. His industry designations include the following: GRI (Graduate, Real Estate Institute) and the e-Pro (Internet Real Estate Professional) designation awarded by the National Association of Realtors®. He is also an Associate Broker working with computers and creating systems throughout his professional career. Jeffrey has developed and utilizes the ultimate “techno” paperless office.

Being a practicing REALTOR®, the tested techniques taught are the latest and greatest and work flawlessly in the real world. These basic, but effective applications, are coupled with experience, humor, and the “anybody can understand,” as Jeffrey has made them usable by any tech level.

Jeffrey is a certified zipForm®, RPR, & Transaction Desk-Instanet Solutions instructor and is accredited by the Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) along with previously giving CE classes in Nevada for the Real Estate Division (NRED) and in California for the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) to teach his technology classes, giving accredited continuing education classes to REALTORS® across the US. He also served on the ADRE 2007 Technology Group to help the department discover better ways to solve their technology woes. He also previously served on the Phoenix association of REALTORS® as a director and currently serves as a director for ARMLS, the 5th largest MLS in the country.

His article has been published in the AAR (Arizona Association of REALTOR®) magazine and has been featured in local real estate periodicals. Teaching many REALTORS® and other real estate industry related professionals over the years, his classes have taken thousands of professionals to new levels- making careers and life a little easier and more productive.
