Certification

                  NAEBA is pleased to offer two types of certification:
Certified Exclusive Buyer Agent (CEBA) and Certified Exclusive Buyer Agent - Master (CEBA-M).

CEBA Requirements

Experience:
• Licensed for a minimum of two years.
• Closed a minimum of 12 EBA transactions while part of an EBA firm.
• Documentation to be provided to prove licensing and completed transactions.
• Must continuously meet NAEBA membership requirements (even if not a member).

Required Reading:
• An EBA’s Guide to Agency, Ethics and Disclosure
• An EBA’s Guide to Client Services
• An EBA’s Guide to Real Estate Financing

Required Exam:
• One comprehensive exam, taken online or at the Annual Conference (if offered), after completing the required experience and reading.
• A score of 80% is required to pass the exam. If a person fails the exam, a maximum of 2 retests would be allowed within one year of the initial exam, to be taken no less than 30 days apart. There is no fee charged for the retests.

Continuing Education:
• 12 hours every three years
• Continuing education must be earned during the three years between the certification or immediately preceding renewal date and the current expiration date and can be obtained by:
* 1 hour per each hour of education at NAEBA’s Annual Conference
* 1 hour per each hour of ABR coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of ABRM coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of CBR coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of ‘buyer-centered’ coursework offered by any real estate organization or post-secondary institution
* 1 hour per each hour of coursework offered by the Real Estate Negotiations Institute
* Other coursework, including CE courses taken for licensure, may be submitted to NAEBA for consideration. Applicants will be notified within 60 days of the submission whether the coursework will be credited.
• Applicant must provide evidence of coursework completion to NAEBA for those courses not offered or sponsored by NAEBA.

 

CEBA-M Requirements                                                                       

Current Designation:
• Must hold CEBA designation

Experience:
• Licensed for a minimum of four years.
• Closed a minimum of 24 EBA transactions while part of an EBA firm.
• Documentation to be provided to prove licensing and completed transactions.
• Must continuously meet NAEBA membership requirements (even if not a member).

Continuing Education:
• 12 hours every three years
• Continuing education must be earned during the three years between the certification or immediately preceding renewal date and the current expiration date and can be obtained by:
* 1 hour per each hour of education at NAEBA’s Annual Conference
* 1 hour per each hour of ABR coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of ABRM coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of CBR coursework
* 1 hour per each hour of ‘buyer-centered’ coursework offered by any REALTOR organization
* 1 hour per each hour of coursework offered by the Real Estate Negotiations Institute
* Other coursework, including CE courses taken for licensure, may be submitted to NAEBA for consideration. Applicants will be notified within 60 days of the submission whether the coursework will be credited.
• Applicant must provide evidence of coursework completion to NAEBA for those courses not offered or sponsored by NAEBA.

Service to the Industry:
20 points earned no sooner than 5 years prior to CEBA designation awarded as follows
• 1 point for each year in attendance at the NAEBA Annual Conference.
• 3 points for each year serving on NAEBA committee (with verification of contribution from the Chair).
• 5 points for each year Chairing a NAEBA committee (with verification of contribution from Executive Director).
• 6 points for each year serving as NAEBA officer or member of the Board of Directors
• 4 points for each session taught at a NAEBA Annual Conference.
• 4 points for each session CEBA continuing education course taught at any location – maximum 8 points.
• 1 point for each additional designation: ABR, ABRM, ALHS, CBR, CIPS, CNE, CRB, CRS, Eco-Broker, GREEN, GRI, RSPS, SRES or other designations as determined by the Professional Development Committee - maximum 5 points
• 3 points for serving as an officer or committee chair for a minimum of one year with any other real estate association (local, state, or national) – maximum 9 points
