This enormous conflict of interest was one of the main motivating factors when Stephen Carpenter-Israel and his wife, Wendy, founded their unique real estate company in 1991. At Buyer's Edge, we knew there had to be a better way to help consumers buy a home or condominium.
All homebuyers deserve to be treated fairly and honestly. We dreamed that if we did it the right way, we could protect our client's best interests and help them purchase a home at the best possible price, terms, and conditions.

Consumers now have a choice when buying a home in DC, MD, and VA. At the Buyer's Edge, we're all Exclusive Buyer's Agents who believe in the mission of our homebuyer brokerage real estate company. We like to think of ourselves as home buying consultants. Our Realtors are not salespeople. We never list properties, so our buyer's agents have nothing to sell and no sellers to whom we are beholden. Over the years, as some of the first real estate disruptors, we have changed how people buy homes in the DMV. Consumers now have a clear choice, employing a Realtor who works for them without conflicts.
Before founding Buyer’s Edge, | BuyersAgent.com, Steve spent ten years working in the commercial construction business as a project manager and then running a small company specializing in shopping center construction and high-end office remodeling.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Steve grew up in a real estate household where his father was an appraiser, and Steve learned much about the city and valuing real estate.
